I am Bryce
Gender: Female / Amputation: Bi-lateral BK, Bi-lateral wrist disarticulation
Foot: Accent / Shell color: Caucasian
This is my story
In May 2012 I got what I thought was a minor flu and went to the ER. After 6 months in the hospital, I had lost both hands and feet and knew life would never be the same. Ever since then I've been working to get my life back on track by remaining active and trying to help other people who struggle with physical limitations. I've been swimming since I was 6 months old, and after my amputations, I decided to rededicate myself to competitive swimming. I now swim with a team in Southern California and have set for myself the seemingly impossible goal of going to the Paralympics.
My Accent feet are the first prosthetic feet that I have tried that feel truly versatile. I can wear them with flats or heels, and they are narrower than other adjustable feet that I've tried and therefore fit more easily into women's shoes. That might seem like a small detail, but after my amputations my whole life changed so to be able to retain wearing my old shoes means the world to me. With some other prosthetic feet that I've tried there's a more generic kind of product produced and if you don't fit that mold you have to adjust your lifestyle accordingly. I appreciate that with College Park products I don't have to let my feet dictate what I can do.
