What is Foot Type

What are Foot Types?

Foot types is a classification system to organize the different lines of College Park feet.

Carbon - feet with a carbon fiber foot base, not our traditional Intelliweave® composite material. (i.e. Horizon)

Tri-Axial - these are feet that use bumpers and bushings to create tri-axial movement and response (i.e. Trustep)

iST - Integrated Spring Technology feet, or those that use springs to proportional respond to varying activities (i.e. Soleus)

Hydraulic - Feet that have a hydraulic ankle (i.e. OdysseyK2)

Specialty - Feet that have a special function, like heel height adjustability (i.e. Accent)

Gait Match - feet that are able to be gait matched to a patient's specifications (i.e. Celsus)

Non-Gait Match - feet that come in only a few firmness ls (i.e. Breeze)

Energy Return

What is energy return?

Energy return refers to the amount of energy that is unloaded from a prosthetic foot during toe-off

The ideal amount of energy return is often driven by a patient's preference for more or less propulsion during toe-off, in addition to the practitioner's observations of their gait.

Amount	Definition
Low to Moderate	A foot design that returns 70-80% of its energy; resulting in less propulsion during toe-off.
Moderate to High	A foot design that returns 80-90% of its energy; resulting in a moderate amount of propulsion during toe-off.
High	A foot design that returns 90-99% of its energy; resulting in greater propulsion during toe-off.

Impact Level

Choosing the right impact level

Select the Impact Level that best describes your daily activities.

This matches feet that are suitable for an activity, and also determines how soft or firm the foot will be built.

Impact Level	Definition
K2 Low	Low speed walking and low intensity activities, cannot vary speed
K3 Low	Preference towards low speed walking and low intensity activities
K3 Moderate	Preference towards moderate speed walking and moderate intensity activities
K3 High	Aggressive walking and/or intense activities such as running, jumping, and sprinting
