"Reventando las amargas cadenas de la pobreza con la educación y formación"

April 11th, 2007

Dear College Park Industries,

We here at the Asociación Nuestros Ahijados (GOD'S CHILD Project in Guatemala) would like to express our immense appreciation for your donation of prosthetic feet for Ricardo Gonzalez Pérez, a precious little boy who is part of our program. We are a non-profit, non-governmental organization that strives to break the bitter chains of poverty through education and formation. We provide basic needs, educational, health and community development services to our 2,700 children and 12,000 single-moms, abandoned and abused women.

Leopoldo Eddy Fuentes, the prosthesist with whom we have been working, was the one who contacted you requesting your assistance with Ricardo's case. He has been providing prosthetic care to Ricardo and will continue to follow his case.

We would like to share a little of Ricardo's story with you. Ricardo has recently turned seven-years-old and lives in a very remote mountain-side village where his father farms to support their family. Due to a disease called Leucocytoplastic vasculitis, Ricardo lost proper circulation in his legs and had to have bilateral above-the-knee amputations. In Ricardo's village the handicapped prejudicism is very severe. Without legs, they would consider him worthless and cursed. But, his prosthetics have not only brought a huge smile to his face and light to his eyes, but also a chance for a brighter future, thanks to you and your generosity. As you can see this gift will not only provide for his physical needs, but also make a difference in every aspect of his life and in the lives of those around him.

We would also like to ask if you would be willing to allow us to contact you directly in the future when Ricardo needs new prosthetic components and also if we have other children that could use your assistance. We would greatly appreciate your collaboration. Please let us know if you would be willing to work with us in Ricardo's and other future cases.

Once again, we want to thank your for caring so much and giving of yourselves. It means more than words can express. We are enclosing some pictures and hope that they will better express just how much your donation means to all of us here at the Project, Ricardo and his family.

Sincerely,

Janeth de Reyes
