 Name: John Mutton
Type of Amputation: Bi-lateral BK
Occupation: Subcontract Courier
A motorcycle accident in 1982 left John Mutton a left below the knee amputee. Although devastating at the time, John persevered to live a normal life.
A subcontract courier from Sydney, Australia, John spends long hours on his feet, demanding superior comfort from his prosthesis. In comparison with his previous foot, John states, "I must say it was like chalk and cheese in comparison. I spend 13 hours a day on my feet as an Executive Chef and never realized how much work my previous limb required of me."
John and his family love to travel - and not just to resorts. A fan of seeing nature's beauty, John has taken trips to see glaciers, geysers, nature trails, mud flats...you get the picture. Regarding his prosthesis on a a recent voyage to the Franz Josef glacier in New Zeeland, John states, "I was very impressed by the comfort it provided in walking on such uneven ground. I found that my confidence level with every step was almost as good as my real foot...makes the day walk a lot less tiring when you don't have to concentrate too much on where you plant each step."
A proud father of three, John spends much time chasing his kids. The TruStep has helped John keep up with the little ones much easier, and allowed him to continue the chase longer. John states, "The TruStep has made life and mobility for me more comfortable. I feel less worn out at the end of the day, impact forces are greatly reduced compared to my previous limb, and managing stairs both up and down is easier."
