 Name: Matt Perkins
Occupation: Marketing Director, Coyote Design
Type of Amputation: AK
Matt Perkins is the Marketing Director at Coyote Design, an orthotic and prosthetic manufacturing company specializing in locking mechanisms for prosthetic sockets based in Boise, Idaho. When he's not working, Matt is extremely active and enjoys skiing, playing tennis and basketball, and biking. He also participates in triathlons, in which you swim, bike, and run your way to the finish line. With such an active lifestyle, it's hard to imagine that Matt has been an amputee all of his life, yet he has.
As an infant, Matt had his left leg amputated above the knee due to a birth defect. Having tried a few other kinds of feet including the Flex Foot VSP, Matt was looking for a more comfortable foot to accommodate his needs. On the quest to find a foot superior in quality and longevity, he learned about College Park through independently researching the prosthetics industry.
Recognizing College Park as the leader in anatomically correct prosthetic feet, Matt decided to give the TruStep a try about 6 years ago. He's been wearing it ever since. "I don't want to have to think about my prosthetic foot, that's why I wear the TruStep," he says. "The TruStep is the easiest foot to use when you need a foot that can go from the office to your everyday sporting activities and back."
When he is not in the office or participating in sporting activities, you can find Matt presenting information to prosthetic industry professionals at College Park and Coyote Design's Clinical Application Workshops. Matt has been presenting for 3 years.
When asked what he likes most about the TruStep, Matt says, "I spend less time and effort worrying about and maintaining my foot. There's less breakage and less worry."
