Type of Amputation: Right AK
After seven years of remission following a battle with uwing sarcoma, a rare type of cancer, twelve year-old Brian Bemis made the most important decision of his young life. Brian made the decision to amputate his right leg above the knee. "I was sick and tired of watching everyone surpass me, activity wise," He casually states. From the early days of his amputation, Brian went through many cumbersome prosthesis. While he was able to move about considerably better than before his amputation, he was never completely satisfied with the action or reliability of the feet that he wore. "I didn't really think there was a natural-feeling foot on the market," says Brian.
Years later, at the 2001 National Amputee Golf Association (NAGA) Tournament, Brian met and began chatting with College Park President Eric Robinson about the Venture Foot. At the time of the tournament, Brian was in dire need of a new prosthesis. "Eric told me he would help me to get a new foot," Brian remembers. After the NAGA Tournament, Eric made good on his promise and Brian became a test patient for the Venture Foot. During the testing phase, Brian was so pleased with the performance of the Venture that he became a permanent College Park enthusiast and Venture wearer. "I couldn't be any happier with the foot," Brian says of his Venture.
Brian has been wearing the College Park Venture for about 4 years now. He is again fully enjoying all of the activities he loves the most, especially golf. "The Venture feels more like a real foot than any other foot I have tried," Brian says. "I couldn't be any more pleased with it."
