Brandon Kline is a 19-year old sophomore at Kansas City Community College. He is studying to become an Athletic Sports Trainer and Prosthetic Practitioner, and he loves to bowl in his spare time. Brandon has been bowling since the age of four, and has dreamed of being a pro-bowler ever since he could remember. Last season, he accomplished an 809 series score in the Kansas City Open Tournament, and this season, he has qualified for The National Junior Olympic Gold Tournament, a competition held in Indianapolis that most Junior Bowlers never qualify for. Even though he's lucky enough to be living his dream at present, things weren't always so simple for Brandon.
At the age of 8, Brandon was diagnosed with cancer. Due to complications with his treatment, his right leg had to be amputated six inches below the knee. When he was fitted for a new foot, his prosthetist recommended he wear a foot for high activity level amputees. The only problem was that the foot his prosthetist recommended couldn't keep up with Brandon! He was routinely breaking and damaging his foot, and time after time, the Kline's found they were sending his foot in for repairs. After about a year, they were fed up! It was at this time that Brandon's prosthetist told the Klines about College Park.
After learning all of the benefits of the TruStep foot, the Klines decided to give it a try. Because of his athletic abilities, Brandon had a knack for failing parts faster than most people in his age group. This made him a perfect candidate to aid in the development of product improvements at College Park. Brandon assisted in the development of the latest, more durable forefoot, and the IH ankle, which is a stronger, boltless connection of the pyramid, the piece that connects the ankle to the rest of the leg. Thanks to College Park's talented technical and engineering staff, and with a little help from the Klines, Brandon isn't breaking his foot anymore. Now he can concentrate on what really matters to him, bowling!
"The College Park TruStep foot lets me be as normal and as athletic as I want to be," says Brandon.
Brandon has been on his TruStep for about 9 years now, and things couldn't be going better for him. He's on his way to a successful career in Athletic Sports Training and Prosthetic fitting, and if all goes well at the tournament this summer in Indianapolis, maybe bowling, too!
Be sure to watch the pro-bowling circuit for Brandon in the future.
